Rosin Aquatint: An Etching Technique
The first volume in our Fundamentals series, rosin aquatint is a non-linear etching process used to achieve tones, washes, and values. This process involves melting rosin particles to the surface of a metal plate to create a fine dot pattern matrix for the acid to eat channels around. Often used in combination with other processes, our Rosin Aquatint booklet makes a great companion to our sugar lift, soap ground, and marbled etching guides.
Our ongoing series of process booklets are designed as comprehensive and accessible learning tools for a variety of analogue printmaking techniques. Useful for both beginner and advanced printmakers, each 6-page booklet includes step-by-step instructions, recipes, original illustrations, and helpful tips. Each booklet is screen printed, hand cut and folded, and measures 6” x 4.5”.
